It might be worth mentioning I hope to get a Flip Mino HD around Christmas/Birthday time. Either as a pressie or I use any monies I obtain over that period + my student loan. (Isn’t it great all three are within 20 days of each other? :p)

My reason is simple. I don’t want to always have to rely on Uni having a camera free to record anything and everything. Also, the cases they come in are bloody massive and heavy! A Flip is about the size of my phone and weighs about the same, so that’s a massive plus. Now, I know it’s only 720p HD, I know it’s only got a 4GB storage module (Hour of footage) and the likes, but 720p looks amazing on a 1080p screen anyway, and also you can only get an hour of footage on a tape on one of Uni’s cameras in any case, so I’m not missing out on much. Being the geek I am, I watch The Gadget Show, and they reviewed it and it had amazing colour and most importantly, the best sound recording of the three cameras they tested. With it being more of a handy HD cam than a production HD cam, I doubt I can hook a external mic to it, so having good audio built in is a must!

Also, for £150-£170 where can you go wrong? o.O

I really hope I am able to obtain one. I’ve always got ideas for short film sorta things but its a ball ache booking equipment, getting it, using it, returning it then capturing footage. As were in the digital age, and I wanna continue doing such things in the future after Uni, having my own is a big plus. Granted, it’s not very professional looking if your recording footage for a short film or a vlog etc, but the end results is the video a viewer will see, so it wont matter what camera is used.
