So today I headed into town to get me a T-Mobile G2 (The all Black version of the HTC Hero I yapped on about in my previous blog post) but I was unable to get a contract with a phone due to T-Mobiles credit checks… EH?! What the f… I’ve got no form of credit to my name, I’m a student damnit! Although, after having a word with my sister who started a new O2 contract last week, she had the same problem, so we can only conclude it is something to do with my parent’s that we failed them. Anywho, Vodafone and Orange both love me and passed straight off. After much conversation with the lady in Carphone Warehouse, I walked home with a HTC Hero for £30 a month with 600 mins, unlimited texts and web! Sorted.
So Davey is a very happy chappy right now.
Initially, my plan as of today was to get the G2 and keep my O2 contract until it ran out then fob them off when they offer me a new contract/upgrade. The lady in Carphone Warehouse told me if I ring O2 and say I want out and to gimme my PAC code, the contract will cancel itself and voila. So I rang O2 and, thankfully, it was a very easy process. The dude who I spoke with gave me my PAC code (Via text within 24hours, only took a hour!) and I rang Orange and sorted out my number transfer.
Also, to my delight, my final bill which I will pay about 14 days after the number has transferred will only be £35 + any outstanding charges like, for example, the £6 I have to pay for ringing Virgin Media! So, this month on contracts I will only pay £70ish, £80 max which is a lot cheaper than the £140 I guessed it would cost.
SCORE!
Anyways, expect mucho’s more Android related blogs in the future – either good or bad!
