Two down, One to go!

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

First off. Ignore the fail’s on my website at present. I know the sidebar still needs sorting and also various other ‘tweeks’ that are needed on my design. I am aware of them all, and they all will be addressed over the next week or so when I find time to divulge into Wordpress once again.

That being said.

WELCOME BACK TO REGULAR BLOGGING! :D

I’ve neglected the blog over summer (baring the re-design) and I missed it. :( I’ve read lots of geeky things, learnt a whole lot but also been out and about doing various things! One of the various things, regrettably, was NOT a job. I was meant to be contacted for a temp job at the beginning of summer but alas I was never contacted about pay or times. Lovely.

Anyways, I shall update you all with my techie lovely’s first.

I no longer run a Hackintosh on my Acer Aspire 7720G. Infact, I no longer own it! Instead I am running Snow Leopard on an iMac! w00t for Apple shinnyness. :D Currently BootCampin’ Windows 7 Ultimate baring in mind, so I’m not 100% withdrawn from Microsoft’s grasp! I shall however be purchasing a Netbook of some variation in the next couple of weeks. Currently, the Dell Mini 10v has definitely spiked my drink I think. For £200 I get a 10.1″ Netbook with an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a 8GB SSD HardDrive and Ubuntu… Not exactly ‘thrilling’ I know as ALL bloody netbooks have that same spec now days, but the 160GB (or 320GB, I’ve not decided what would be best as of yet…) HardDrive  I have sitting on my desk will promptly be installed into the little beast about… 5 minutes after I open the box. About 6 minutes after the box has been opened, Windows 7 shall be installed along with a Wordprocessor and… that’s about it. I figured that hauling a 17″ ’stay at home’ Acer laptop around is going to get VERY annoying this year writting a Dissertation n’ all, so opted for a extremely light netbook instead. Also, the 5-9 hour battery life on netbooks is very welcoming in comparison to the hour and a half I get out of teh Acer in Power Saving mode. “But David, you won’t be able to hack the netbook and run OSX or other OS’s.” I hear Sam cry. Well fear not amigo! The Dell is ferpectly able to run OSX. And Android so YouTube tells me. BUT (I’ve never gone THIS far when it comes to talking about mucking about with gadgets!) I wont be doing such things at least for a good 8 or 9 months! Once I get an OS on it and running (that isn’t Linux) I shall be sticking with it as the last thing I want is to be somewhere where I can dissertation write or project work and realise I can’t as I have pwnt myself. So, no tricks and magic for a while yet!

Next, returning to Uni. (Which is what my post title is representing, although I have gone a bit OTT on the techie shizznit, oops.) I’ve not yet started as I enroll on Tuesday, but I am very much looking forward to it! I need some form of structure in my life and a reason to pull all nighters! Lot’s of work tends to help in that situation and keep me on a relatively straight sleeping pattern… he says while writing this at 4am! This week I’ve been doing my part as Communications Officer on our Student Union and helping out during the newbie’s enrollment. By newbies, I mean freshers, lol. So I’ve started to slowly get back into the swing of things. I’ve not yet seen any of the new Digital Film, Games and Animation (DFGA, the new DDM course) newbies but I am sure in time I shall. One of my best mates and house mate Chris has started this course and they all enrolled today, one day of which I aren’t helping out. >.< D’oh! But, all three year’s share the same studio, baring the quiet space, so again, in time they shall bob about. Quickly going back to the Student Union stuffs, I’m currently managing our official Twitter page! :D For those of you who aren’t familiar with me, I update Twitter a lot… not just a lot, but A LOT! So taking on such a role made my face do an emoticon like smile. (^.^) <– Like that. :) So, if your at our college and on twitter… FOLLOW US! http://twitter.com/leeds_art I promise that wont be updated as much as my personal page, but still. :p

Lastly, err. I don’t think I have a lastly. I feel I’ve wrote enough as it is! (Yeah, sorry for the essay of a blog guys!)

If you have twitter, please follow me as anything I post, do, accomplish or get angry about WILL be tweeted! You will more than likely (99.9% of the time) hear it there first!
