End of Year Show – Day Drei

I do hope I spelt drei (three in german) correctly. :-p

So today is day three of the build and today quite a radical change happened.

I wasn’t in this morning so I can’t really account for what happened (if anyone who was in wants to contribute to this post, please do!), but when I got in just past lunch time the entire studio there was a distinct lack of Mac’s not laying about. :-p All the Mac’s, screens and wires were put in super secret hiding place one and the rest which are being used for a video wall (more on that later) were left up. From here, Jim set about making the Titanic.

I have named it the titanic as it is huge! Also, it currently has braces attached to it to keep it from falling down on people which you usually see on ships being worked on. :-) The wall, like the last wall is 99% done and awaiting for the final piece (that’s already been cut) to be put in place in the near future. The wall itself still needs support from the rear so the current supports can be removed and some video holes can be cut out! :-)

Back in the cinema room, the left hand wall was painted a nice consistent colour today. The new wall was still drying awaiting its first lick-o-paint tomorrow.

So the cinema room, to my knowledge, needs:

  • Projection wall painted,
  • Everything taken out that’s that meant to be there,
  • Chairs putting in,
  • Put posters up?
  • Get the curtains installed,
  • Get projector and speakers installed,
  • Add other miscellaneous items to dress the room.

It sounds a lot but it’s really not, in the long run it’s more of lots of large things rather than lots of little things. :-)

Tomorrow, the video wall should be finalised so the holes and mounts for monitors can be made, then it’s painting the walls of the studio and also painting the video wall. Also, it’s been brought up that we need a theme. Once we have a theme, the room will be transformed from a studio looking… studio, to a *insert theme idea here*. So yeah, everything seems to be coming along swimmingly.

On a totally not building-the-show note, quite a few people have asked me about handing files to me for the showreels and such. It’s a healthy number of people and should everything be rendered in the right formats and such, the editing part should be pretty easy and painless.

Auf Wiedersehen!
